Change Your Passwords - TripInsuranceStore.com

by Steve Dasseos, The Trip Insurance Guru on August 8, 2012

I?m sure you are well aware of all the data breaches that have taken place over the past years. In fact, on July 31, 2012, the GAO reported ?Data breaches up 19%?.

Two simple steps to protect yourself:

  • Change Your Passwords. We use complicated passwords both for TripInsuranceStore.com and for our own personal use. To give you an example of what I mean by complicated, here?s a password I no longer use: Ds45*Po%bZ#rdJ^sq
  • Don?t save your credit card information with online merchants. Just because the credit card appears as ?**** **** **** 1234?, the ?****? ?s are no guarantee that they are stored securely. For example, TripInsuranceStore.com doesn?t save credit card information. No one ever complains when we ask for their card information.

Next, it?s a good idea to use secure online storage to store the password list. I have my passwords saved in an password-protected Excel spreadsheet. I use DropBox for my online storage. I can access my DropBox folder from anywhere, too. DropBox is free and comes with 2 GB of storage.

I hope this helps you protect yourself.

PS ? I could give you a cheesy plug for how Trip Cancellation Travel Insurance from TripInsuranceStore.com is just like having strong passwords to protect you, but I won?t.

PS ? If you liked what you read, please subscribe to my Blog. You can also connect with TripInsuranceStore on Facebook.

He Said/She Said: Dating, Relationships & Sex in Your 20s | Love ...

I am constantly writing articles on love and dating using my own female point of view.? So, I thought for this next one I?d highlight a different perspective ? a male?s perspective. As college girls, we are professionals at overanalyzing male motives. But if there?s one lesson my Mama taught me, it?s that if you want to know something, you have to ASK!

I asked my friends David, 24, and Erin, 22, to answer some of the most common questions out there pertaining to dating, relationships and sex.? Let?s see what these twenty-somethings came up with, shall we?

DATING

Who should make the first move?

SHE SAYS: ?The guy without fail.? And if he?s nervous, he shouldn?t be afraid to ask, ?Is it okay if I hold your hand, etc.?? It?s cute.

HE SAYS: ?It?s traditional for men to make the first move, but really, the two main factors that decide who makes it are?who has the personality and?confidence.? If you?re?attracted to someone, all you need to do is muster up some courage (sometimes?accommodated by the?liquid form of courage) and introduce yourself.? Over-confident men usually will say something very crude or use a cheesy pick-up line.? On the other end of the spectrum are your very quiet, shy guys that only might (and I do underscore might) come up and introduce themselves with a simple ?hi.? Don?t let your overall perception of a guy be based off how aggressive or timid he comes off in a first move.? A lot of times that aggressive, overconfident guy tends to be a real jerk and have a one track mind; and that quiet guy might end up being exactly what you were looking for. Plus, he?ll probably warm up to you later.?

Foolproof first date idea??

SHE SAYS: ?I think it?s better to go somewhere where you can hear each other and talk. Concerts are always fun, but doing a dinner or picnic beforehand is a better way to get to know one another while still enjoying your surroundings!

HE SAYS: ?No such thing as a foolproof first date! But if you at least know something about your date?s interests (thank you pre-Facebook and Twitter stalking), you should already have an idea of what you have in common.? If the girl really likes movies, then a movie it shall be!? Spicing it up and doing something out of the norm?like a sporting event or dinner with friends is my personal favorite.

What makes a girl/boy stand out from a crowd?

SHE SAYS: Personally, I appreciate a guy who you meet and doesn?t act like a fool or flaunt his ego. In other words, someone who can have fun and not take themselves seriously, but is confident enough to do it without being wasted or talking themselves up to people.

HE SAYS: A genuine smile and the way you look at a guy speaks non-verbal volumes.? Body language is a great form of communication, though sometimes guys will mistake your polite non-verbals for extreme interest.? You could be constantly gazing downward at your watch wondering, ?WHEN is he going to stop talking about himself?? and he might actually take your courteous smile and eye rolling as curiosity, so beware!

Biggest turn-off:

SHE SAYS: ?Someone who isn?t able to laugh at themselves and is just worried how others may perceive of them.? Be yourself!

HE SAYS: Too much makeup and an overly risque dress.? Unless it?s prom night and you?re trying to get lucky, I would avoid those two things.? What you?re ?advertising? will determine what kinds of guys you attract. ?Also, don?t be a sloppy drunk.? Calm down there, Skippy!? The party only started an hour ago and you?re?five beers deep?? Next!

Really, how important are looks?

SHE SAYS: In order to make a relationship work, you need to be attracted to them. ?This doesn?t mean that they?re necessarily the hottest person, but you need that chemistry. Plus, someone who takes pride in how they look is more likely to be confident in all aspects of life.

HE SAYS: Looks aren?t everything, but they?are a?huge part of the decision to pursue a relationship.? No guy wants to be in a relationship where he isn?t physically attracted to his partner.? Men, being visually stimulated, need something about you to stimulate their um? visualness.

RELATIONSHIPS

What are some ways you can tell she/he?s ?boyfriend/girlfriend material??

SHE SAYS: Respect. In order to date someone and have a healthy relationship, they need to show you respect and understanding. ?For many girls we call this ?chivalry? because they take time to show us they respect us.

HE SAYS: ?Well, I was born and raised?in the Deep South and we like to dote on our women there. ?But the most profound thing any woman has ever done for me was actually by a co-worker.??We weren?t romantically?involved or even dating, but as a gentleman should, I opened her car door for her one day we were going for a drive.? As I was walking around the other side to get in and drive, I saw her leaning over and opening?my door for me.? I about blew a circuit!? What a nice gesture.? She could see the surprised look on my face and?before I could ask why she responded, ?My dad taught me that if a man ever opens the door for you, you lean over and open the door for him.? I guess what I?m trying to say is that guys like to feel wanted and appreciated, too.? Trust me we?re well aware you can open your own door. ?But there is a certain amount of individuality and independence in a girl that we just find attractive.? Those are the girls we want to call our girlfriends.

When is a good time to meet the parents?

SHE SAYS: This is a tough one, since there is no right or wrong answer!? Every situation depends on when you are both comfortable. I will disclose, however, that if they seem to be hesitant to do the ?meet the parents? thing and you?ve talked about it in your relationship but they won?t do it, don?t waste your time. If there?s a future, the parents are crucial and, as much as it sucks, many times your own parents are right about someone.

HE SAYS: Never! (Just kidding.) I guess once you?re comfortable and you?ve both decided you want to take the next step in creating your relationship.? While meeting the parents might not seem like a huge deal to girls, guys usually feel sick to their stomach because to them, the world could end! Most men can play it off like they don?t care but the truth is they do; and they really want your parents to like or at least accept them.? Guys in general have the preconceived notion that a girl?s dad is going to beat the crap out of him and her mother is going to make things awkward.? Ah, how true that can be sometimes.

How important is it to change your Facebook status?

SHE SAYS: I think this causes too many insecurities in relationships. ?If you want to put that status up, you have to accept you may have to take it down and have people in your business.

HE SAYS: Facebook is all about status.? That?s why they have a ?status? box.? If you want the world to know you?re dating someone, go ahead.? Most guys would be OK with you?putting ?in a relationship with ?? on your profile.? Personally, I would raise an eyebrow if my partner didn?t put something like that up.?If she never changed it and when confronted would just skate?around it I would become flooded with doubt and questions.?Does she really like me?? Is there something she?s not telling me? Does she even know how to spell my name?!? We slap labels on everything. And while I might not agree with Facebook or other (un)social medias, I still believe if you?re playing the game, at least play by the rules and change the relationship status!

Can you be friends with an ex?

SHE SAYS: My initial reaction from experience is no. Just because feelings will always be there and I think many people can?t handle going from dating to simply seeing who they are dating; it creates jealousy issues. Clearly that boy you dated short term may be an exception.

HE SAYS: After a serious or even semi-serious relationship, the answer is NO!? What is acceptable (and only this!) is texting or saying happy birthday once a year.? No ?happy birthday, I still love you!? nonsense though.? If you are still friends with your ex, it puts your current partner in a very odd predicament.? How can they feel comfortable knowing you have a coffee date every week with the guy you used to sleep with and for all they know might still have feelings for?? For the love of geography, don?t keep exes around in the picture.? And especially don?t keep around any pictures of your ex.

SEX

After how many dates do you wait to first have sex?

SHE SAYS: Once again, there is no magic number. ?Obviously, sex is important in a relationship but you need that trust with the person first. ?And you don?t want to give it up too soon and seem easy. I think a good rule of thumb is when you are able to have a mature conversation about it, you can do it.

HE SAYS: If you?re talking about long-term relationship potential, I?d wait at least two dates.? If you give it up on the first date you?re not going to be his boyfriend, you?re going to be his squeeze.? Though minor exceptions can be made?? I am still a believer in love at first sight!

How important is your ?number??

SHE SAYS: Not important.? If someone is judging or being condescending about it, they?re not worth your time. But that doesn?t mean sleeping around with everyone will solve your problems either.

HE SAYS: Never ask questions you don?t want answers to. While it?s mildly important, he?s more interested in whether or not you know your way around the bedroom. Besides, just because you?ve only been with two guys doesn?t mean you?re not as good, if not better, than a girl who?s been with 20. Usually, people in relationships that explore things with each other over time make better future lovers than those who opt for countless one-night stands.?

Sexting: flirty or skanky?

SHE SAYS: I see nothing wrong with it, but if you get raunchy, just know someone else could read it on yours or his phone, so don?t send it unless you?re okay with that!

HE SAYS: If you?re comfortable doing that with the person you are with then it seems completely fine, healthy even. Think of it as a strip tease but the image is burned into our brains and makes us want you that much more when we see you again.

Pretty predictable or were you surprised by what the opposite sex had to say?? Tell us in the comments section below!

"Joseph Clark here", was the sound that came out of a young man's mouth into his mobile, as he strode along the corridor, his footsteps echoing throughout the room. Either side of him, were rows of tables, each of them littered with paper and computer screens, all manned by men and women dressed in suits as was he, each looking up to him as he passed, clearly showing that he was the one in charge.

"Mr Clark. I'm afraid we bring bad news. Is it ok to speak?", was the sound that returned back to Joseph's ears, in which he responded immediately with, "Give me a sec", as his eyes and finger glared upon another man and pointed back towards the path he had just walked down, before sticking his hand out to push open the door of his office.

Inside was a large window with double-glazed doors inbetween, where there was a balcony outside. The office was styled in walnut panels with a tall leather chair tucked behind a grand desk, but Joseph passed by the luxury and comfort of his seat, and stepped out onto the balcony, where he then spoke into his mobile again, "Okay I'm free", making sure he was away from everyone else.

Joseph prized privacy, making sure those who wished for a moment's peace got it, and also making sure that when there was a need for heads being banged together, he would do just that. At the start of his career, many looked down at him, seeing him too young, too naive, but he had climbed the ladder and now reached the top, being a Director of his own company and a great businessman.

The female on the other side of the line, could of been a possible client, or a client pulling away, which meant it was top priority for Joseph to be on the other side, making sure that his way came into fruition. However, the female was not a client, or possible client, but a Doctor, and the news was not good news at all. As he grew, he dived into reading (more newspaper than books), done daily exercises, play games, all those usual stuff young people do, before leaving home to set down his own road. His road however came to a standstill and seemed he must return home as the Doctor informed him of his parents' death, but what startled him more, was that he had a brother, Alistair, who he would now be required to take care of.

Joseph could deal with nitty gritty contracts, but when his past caught up with him, and having part of his past life being brought into his new life, it was going to be hard. After switching his mobile off, he then gripped onto the balcony with his hand and closed his eyes as he felt the air hit his face. Yes he had left, not because there was no love lost, but now he had someone else, and how would he fit it all in his routine. He was due in the gym in an hour.

Unfortunately, that would have to wait or he'd have some visitors disturbing his business for not complying with his duties at home, and so he left his office, leaving the Deputy Director in charge after calling him in and giving him his own version of the story, before putting on his shaded sunglasses and entering his BMW, immediately putting on the throttle and heading...home. Something he had not done for awhile.

Memory served well for where to go, but what perked his interest was his brother, Alistair. On his way down, he popped into the Hospital to collect his parents' things, before arriving at his former home. Pulling up outside, he opened his car door and closed, before looking up towards the home he grew up in. It was quite a sight, and nothing compared to where he lived now, and was quite unsure how all this would work out. Would his brother be like him, would he even like him? He wasn't use to have a sibling, as it was all about him, but now. A sigh escaped his mouth.

He was a businessman afterall, head of a business, not a family, and though he had wits, and brawn, it was something he hadn't really prepared for. You couldn't prepare yourself for such a thing, especially as unexpected as this was, as he stuck the key into the keyhole and turned, the door opening slightly as he entered, as familiar sights were brought back to life, as he begun to walk about, picking up photos and picturing himself back when he was younger, before calling out, "Alistairrrr!". Only a matter of time before he sees exactly who he'd be dealing with, couldn't be that bad thinking about it....clients were alot harder....

SHOULDERING THE BLAME

The U.S. men's gymnastics team faltered as a team in Monday's finals. But John Orozco thinks he's to blame.

"I feel personally responsible. I did five events and I botched two," he said after the fifth-place finish.

Orozco said he messed up on both the vault ? "If you saw, I fell on my butt" ? and the pommel horse, where "I did so poorly, it counted as if I fell twice."

Sam Mikulak says no one member of the American team was at fault for the performance.

"He's definitely being too hard on himself," Mikulak said, adding the team still showed it is young and improving and "will be a force in Rio."

ANY MEDAL COUNTS

Kristian Thomas finished his floor routine confident he'd done enough to give Britain its first men's gymnastics team medal in 100 years.

But he was too nervous to look.

After his score was posted, and the arena erupted in cheers, he finally glanced over and saw his team had claimed the silver medal.

And then it was gone.

A protest by the Japanese pushed them from fourth to second, knocking Britain down to bronze.

Thomas didn't care.

"We didn't quite get it in our hands, so we never really had it," he said. "Bronze, in our home games, is still absolutely amazing. If someone had told me at the start of the day we'd win a medal, I would have taken that straight away."

MORE ON THE FENCING DRAMA

Sports cliches are easy to come by, but nail-biting does not begin to sum up the drama at the Olympics women's epee.

During a semi-final match, South Korea's Shin A-lam lodged an appeal against a controversial decision by referees.

She and her opponent, Britta Heidemann of Germany, had played three times for the winning point, each time with just one second left on the clock. This itself left many spectators wondering: for just how long can you string out one second?

It was during the third "second" that Heidemann scored the winning point. The South Korean coach started an appeal process that lasted an hour, apparently arguing that the win was scored out of time. All the while, Shin refused to leave the piste as by doing so she would accept defeat.

Referees eventually called it in favor of the German.

The crowd, however, overwhelmingly showed support for Shin and many gave her a standing ovation as she left the arena. Shin returned just minutes later for the bronze-medal match but after an early lead fell to defeat. Each time she scored, though, she received much applause and some foot-stamping. The crowd gave her yet another standing ovation as she bowed out.

Previously during her hour-long appeal she had sobbed uncontrollably before the 8,000-strong auditorium.

RAIN HAIKU

Cloud and rain. Rain continuing north, heavy in places. Unsettled and windy for most, rain or showers at times.

That, in order, is Britain's weather forecast for Monday night, Tuesday and the Wednesday-Thursday-Friday outlook.

A good comic could just read the daily report from the Met Office, the U.K.'s weather agency. Ten thousand ways to say rain. Then you move onto summer temperatures. Highest tomorrow in London is 18 Celsius ? about 64 degrees Fahrenheit.

Get out the sweaters.

MULTIPLE EXPOSURE PHOTO

Check out this multiple exposure photo of Canadian weightlifter Annie Moniqui, shot Monday by AP's Hassan Ammar.

Working with the latest cameras allows for very sophisticated multiple exposure technology. Photographers can now do something that in the days of film was very difficult if not impossible.

It's the digital equivalent of not advancing the film and allowing a sequence of several exposures to appear in the same frame.

The multiple images are captured at split-second intervals, buffered and then saved in one file. The camera is able to recalculate what needs to happen for the image to come out making visual sense.

ZARA AND THE FAMILY

AP's Nicole Winfield is covering equestrian ? and, by extension, Zara Phillips' competition. Here's an excerpt from her dispatch Monday night:

"Zara Phillips had a few things to celebrate Monday: Her first wedding anniversary ? and a penalty-free ride through the treacherous cross-country portion of the Olympic equestrian eventing competition that counted toward Britain's second-place finish going into the final round. Her cousins, Princes William and Harry, donned 'Team GB' polo shirts and joined an estimated 50,000 less-regal fans in Greenwich Park to root for Phillips as she negotiated her horse over 28 obstacles and a slippery course that claimed a dozen fallen riders. 'The crowd was unbelievable!' Phillips said after she finished Day 2 of her Olympic equestrian debut."

A LEGEND SHOWS UP

Even Kobe Bryant wanted a picture with him.

Brazilian basketball legend Oscar Schmidt visited the U.S. men's basketball practice on Monday and was somewhat surprised he was recognized by players too young to have seen him play. Schmidt scored nearly 50,000 points during his career. He never played in the NBA, however, he made his mark on American hoops by almost single-handedly beating the U.S. at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis.

Schmidt led Brazil to a win over an American team featuring David Robinson and Danny Manning.

There was some debate among U.S. reporters Monday about Schmidt's point total before he was asked.

"I scored 46," he said, "35 in the second half."

You hardly missed, he was told.

"That was always the case," he said laughing.

OLYMPIC TRADE BOOST?

There's no gold medal for technology, but if there were, Jonny Ive would be a world champion.

The Apple vice president, the design guru behind the iPhone and iPod, attended a London summit Monday aimed at using the London Olympics to boost Britain's creative industries. The U.K. hopes to secure about 1 billion pounds ($1.6 billion) in deals.

"The creative industries are an integral part of the U.K'.s economic success and future growth," Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt says.

Hunt was also at a reception hailing British design along with the country's most glamorous royal, the Duchess of Cambridge, previously known as Kate Middleton.

FENCING DRAMA

Big drama at the women's epee semi finals in the fencing.

The South Korean team staged an official protest after Shin A-lam lost in the semifinals, claiming the match was already over when opponent Britta Heidemann of Germany scored the winning point.

Shin and Heidemann were tied at 5-5 when the German seemed to score in the final second.

A jury spokesman said it would "take a while to come to a decision in this delicate situation."

In the meantime, Shin was not allowed to leave the strip and sat, in tears, waiting for a decision.

Tense situation. Extraordinary!

STILL BIG IN WEYMOUTH, BY GEORGE

King George III is still a popular figure in Weymouth, the English Channel resort hosting Olympic sailing.

Seems that the monarch, best known in the United States for losing the American colonies, helped put Weymouth on the map with his summer visits from 1789 to 1805 for therapeutic saltwater dips.

There's a statue of the monarch on one end of the Esplanade, the walkway and road that run parallel to the beach. The inscription reads: "The grateful inhabitants to George The Third on his entering the 50th year of his reign."

A more interesting image of the king is called the Osmington White Horse. Carved into a chalk cliff outside of town, the giant image shows the king riding a horse. It can be seen for miles, including from the sailing courses on Weymouth Bay.

Legend has it that despite the carving being intended as a compliment, the king was offended because it showed him riding away from town, and he never returned.

OLYMPIC DISTRACTIONS

Soldiers dancing in conga lines, bikini-clad cheerleaders, spectators stacking plastic beer cups in tottering towers ? is anyone watching actual Olympic beach volleyball?

Even spectators taking in a match Monday between the men from Great Britain and Brazil were distracted by activity in the stands at central London's Horse Guards Parade.

As rival sections of the arena competed to build the largest beer cup tower, jumbo screens showed troops joining a conga line around the 15,000 seat venue.

Even those watching the sandy court faced distractions, including dancers in skimpy outfits who performed during each major break in play.

TWITTER INSULT

After his father died of brain cancer a year ago, teenage diver Tom Daley went into the Olympics determined to win a medal "for myself and my dad."

The 18-year-old Briton missed out in his first event on Monday, finishing fourth in the 10-meter synchronized platform with teammate Pete Waterfield.

What made it worse for Daley was the response from one Twitter user.

"You let your dad down i hope you know that," (at)Rileyy69 tweeted.

Daley retweeted the abuse and said: "After giving it my all...you get idiot's sending me this."

There was an immediate outcry, with users tweeting: (hash)GetRileyy_69Banned.

"how am i trending worldwide?" (at)Rileyy69 asked.

His account is currently locked.

By way of example, if you are a provider of home furniture, your best possible target could be moms and homeowners. When youve got a list of such group, you can easily offer your dining and bedroom sets for sale.
