SHOULDERING THE BLAME

The U.S. men's gymnastics team faltered as a team in Monday's finals. But John Orozco thinks he's to blame.

"I feel personally responsible. I did five events and I botched two," he said after the fifth-place finish.

Orozco said he messed up on both the vault ? "If you saw, I fell on my butt" ? and the pommel horse, where "I did so poorly, it counted as if I fell twice."

Sam Mikulak says no one member of the American team was at fault for the performance.

"He's definitely being too hard on himself," Mikulak said, adding the team still showed it is young and improving and "will be a force in Rio."

ANY MEDAL COUNTS

Kristian Thomas finished his floor routine confident he'd done enough to give Britain its first men's gymnastics team medal in 100 years.

But he was too nervous to look.

After his score was posted, and the arena erupted in cheers, he finally glanced over and saw his team had claimed the silver medal.

And then it was gone.

A protest by the Japanese pushed them from fourth to second, knocking Britain down to bronze.

Thomas didn't care.

"We didn't quite get it in our hands, so we never really had it," he said. "Bronze, in our home games, is still absolutely amazing. If someone had told me at the start of the day we'd win a medal, I would have taken that straight away."

MORE ON THE FENCING DRAMA

Sports cliches are easy to come by, but nail-biting does not begin to sum up the drama at the Olympics women's epee.

During a semi-final match, South Korea's Shin A-lam lodged an appeal against a controversial decision by referees.

She and her opponent, Britta Heidemann of Germany, had played three times for the winning point, each time with just one second left on the clock. This itself left many spectators wondering: for just how long can you string out one second?

It was during the third "second" that Heidemann scored the winning point. The South Korean coach started an appeal process that lasted an hour, apparently arguing that the win was scored out of time. All the while, Shin refused to leave the piste as by doing so she would accept defeat.

Referees eventually called it in favor of the German.

The crowd, however, overwhelmingly showed support for Shin and many gave her a standing ovation as she left the arena. Shin returned just minutes later for the bronze-medal match but after an early lead fell to defeat. Each time she scored, though, she received much applause and some foot-stamping. The crowd gave her yet another standing ovation as she bowed out.

Previously during her hour-long appeal she had sobbed uncontrollably before the 8,000-strong auditorium.

RAIN HAIKU

Cloud and rain. Rain continuing north, heavy in places. Unsettled and windy for most, rain or showers at times.

That, in order, is Britain's weather forecast for Monday night, Tuesday and the Wednesday-Thursday-Friday outlook.

A good comic could just read the daily report from the Met Office, the U.K.'s weather agency. Ten thousand ways to say rain. Then you move onto summer temperatures. Highest tomorrow in London is 18 Celsius ? about 64 degrees Fahrenheit.

Get out the sweaters.

MULTIPLE EXPOSURE PHOTO

Check out this multiple exposure photo of Canadian weightlifter Annie Moniqui, shot Monday by AP's Hassan Ammar.

Working with the latest cameras allows for very sophisticated multiple exposure technology. Photographers can now do something that in the days of film was very difficult if not impossible.

It's the digital equivalent of not advancing the film and allowing a sequence of several exposures to appear in the same frame.

The multiple images are captured at split-second intervals, buffered and then saved in one file. The camera is able to recalculate what needs to happen for the image to come out making visual sense.

ZARA AND THE FAMILY

AP's Nicole Winfield is covering equestrian ? and, by extension, Zara Phillips' competition. Here's an excerpt from her dispatch Monday night:

"Zara Phillips had a few things to celebrate Monday: Her first wedding anniversary ? and a penalty-free ride through the treacherous cross-country portion of the Olympic equestrian eventing competition that counted toward Britain's second-place finish going into the final round. Her cousins, Princes William and Harry, donned 'Team GB' polo shirts and joined an estimated 50,000 less-regal fans in Greenwich Park to root for Phillips as she negotiated her horse over 28 obstacles and a slippery course that claimed a dozen fallen riders. 'The crowd was unbelievable!' Phillips said after she finished Day 2 of her Olympic equestrian debut."

A LEGEND SHOWS UP

Even Kobe Bryant wanted a picture with him.

Brazilian basketball legend Oscar Schmidt visited the U.S. men's basketball practice on Monday and was somewhat surprised he was recognized by players too young to have seen him play. Schmidt scored nearly 50,000 points during his career. He never played in the NBA, however, he made his mark on American hoops by almost single-handedly beating the U.S. at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis.

Schmidt led Brazil to a win over an American team featuring David Robinson and Danny Manning.

There was some debate among U.S. reporters Monday about Schmidt's point total before he was asked.

"I scored 46," he said, "35 in the second half."

You hardly missed, he was told.

"That was always the case," he said laughing.

OLYMPIC TRADE BOOST?

There's no gold medal for technology, but if there were, Jonny Ive would be a world champion.

The Apple vice president, the design guru behind the iPhone and iPod, attended a London summit Monday aimed at using the London Olympics to boost Britain's creative industries. The U.K. hopes to secure about 1 billion pounds ($1.6 billion) in deals.

"The creative industries are an integral part of the U.K'.s economic success and future growth," Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt says.

Hunt was also at a reception hailing British design along with the country's most glamorous royal, the Duchess of Cambridge, previously known as Kate Middleton.

FENCING DRAMA

Big drama at the women's epee semi finals in the fencing.

The South Korean team staged an official protest after Shin A-lam lost in the semifinals, claiming the match was already over when opponent Britta Heidemann of Germany scored the winning point.

Shin and Heidemann were tied at 5-5 when the German seemed to score in the final second.

A jury spokesman said it would "take a while to come to a decision in this delicate situation."

In the meantime, Shin was not allowed to leave the strip and sat, in tears, waiting for a decision.

Tense situation. Extraordinary!

STILL BIG IN WEYMOUTH, BY GEORGE

King George III is still a popular figure in Weymouth, the English Channel resort hosting Olympic sailing.

Seems that the monarch, best known in the United States for losing the American colonies, helped put Weymouth on the map with his summer visits from 1789 to 1805 for therapeutic saltwater dips.

There's a statue of the monarch on one end of the Esplanade, the walkway and road that run parallel to the beach. The inscription reads: "The grateful inhabitants to George The Third on his entering the 50th year of his reign."

A more interesting image of the king is called the Osmington White Horse. Carved into a chalk cliff outside of town, the giant image shows the king riding a horse. It can be seen for miles, including from the sailing courses on Weymouth Bay.

Legend has it that despite the carving being intended as a compliment, the king was offended because it showed him riding away from town, and he never returned.

OLYMPIC DISTRACTIONS

Soldiers dancing in conga lines, bikini-clad cheerleaders, spectators stacking plastic beer cups in tottering towers ? is anyone watching actual Olympic beach volleyball?

Even spectators taking in a match Monday between the men from Great Britain and Brazil were distracted by activity in the stands at central London's Horse Guards Parade.

As rival sections of the arena competed to build the largest beer cup tower, jumbo screens showed troops joining a conga line around the 15,000 seat venue.

Even those watching the sandy court faced distractions, including dancers in skimpy outfits who performed during each major break in play.

TWITTER INSULT

After his father died of brain cancer a year ago, teenage diver Tom Daley went into the Olympics determined to win a medal "for myself and my dad."

The 18-year-old Briton missed out in his first event on Monday, finishing fourth in the 10-meter synchronized platform with teammate Pete Waterfield.

What made it worse for Daley was the response from one Twitter user.

"You let your dad down i hope you know that," (at)Rileyy69 tweeted.

Daley retweeted the abuse and said: "After giving it my all...you get idiot's sending me this."

There was an immediate outcry, with users tweeting: (hash)GetRileyy_69Banned.

"how am i trending worldwide?" (at)Rileyy69 asked.

Day two of Splendour more subdued | Bundaberg Music | Music ...

IT APPEARED many were struck down with a case of Splendour in the Grass fatigue with a noticeable shortage of midday revellers on day two of the three day festival.

Another glorious day was promised for Saturday but this time it delivered, with nothing but blue skies and hip tunes to keep the sold out crowd in good spirits.

The Supertop was overflowing with punters keen to stay up late for British rockers Bloc Party.

Front man Kele Okereke greeted the crowd with a "g'day" before launching into hits Mercury and Hunting for Witches.

American "sadcore" singer Lana Del Rey was nearly drowned out by her throngs of adoring fans in the G

Backed by a string quartet and piano, she opened her show with Blue Jeans and wasted no time walking down to the front of the stage to serenade her dedicated fans.

"I had to come down and see my people," she said.

"I'm really grateful and I adore you."

Dressed in a white dress and short veil, Del Rey was pitch perfect but her show suffered from a few sound problems including a scratchy mic.

She worked her way through most of the tracks on her album Born to Die and sang a cover of Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box before closing her set with National Anthem.

Meanwhile at the Mix-Up Tent, Gossling joined 360 during his high energy set to sing their collaboration Boys Like You.

Gold Coast bad boys Bleeding Knees Club opened the day on the Supertop.

Their surf pop antics enticed three young girls on stage to sing the chorus of "Girls Can Do Anything".

Indie boy bands continued to be a running theme.

Dublin charmers The Cast of Cheers and energetic Brisbanian four-piece Last Dinosaurs played to swelling crowds at the Supertop.

The latter commenting it was their biggest audience to date.

The GW McLennan kicked off with local lads Lifeline followed by a quiet set of thoughtful indie pop from Mosman Alder.

Here We Go Magic were a tad gloomy, looking every inch the uber cool New York outfit.

Their trippy melodies were a soothing fix for any early afternoon tiredness with many cosying up on the ground.

The Mix Up tent was again party central with Tijuana Cartel carving it up with their global dance beats.

New-to-the-scene hipsters Friends injected a bit of an R&B vibe to their set of sexy tunes and the sultry lead singer flaunted a Smashing Pumpkins T-shirt given to her by a fan.

Away from the music, festivallers were getting hitched in random, debauched ceremonies inside the Tent of Miracles.

Proceedings were overseen by a celebrant dressed in white leather and a very questionable Priest.

Triple j presenters John Safran, Tom Ballard, Kram of Spiderbait and Kav Tamperley of Eskimo Joe discussed music and religion in the Forum tent.

Drumming troupe the Samba Blissta's leant their instruments to enthusiastic crowd members and North Coast talent continued to shine on the Busker Stage with Mick McHugh and Mojo Bluesman among the four acts of the day.

Given the torrential rain and hail late Friday afternoon Belongil Fields was one big mud pit.

It was reported gum boots were sold out on site and some even braved the trip into Byron Bay where they were being sold in the street.

Police seemed to up the ante with several manning Gate 2 from midday and first aid tents didn't appear to be overflowing with people; a good sign attendees are staying safe and enjoying themselves.

Today?punters can look forward to sets by Metric, Triple j darlings The Rubens, Husky, Ball Park Music, Angus Stone, Wolfmother, Missy Higgins, Gossip and a festival-closing show by The Smashing Pumpkins.

Discover paid surveys and earn from home getting company surveys ...

Destiny has brought you here for a reason. The celebs and the moons have aligned in your favor. Your life up to this point has been a single marked with careful or frivolous shelling out. Today, you?ll learn how to find a middle floor where you will negotiate like a pilgrim. You shall be aware, but will allow oneself enough vacancy to splurge. But you shall splurge with extreme care. Luxuries are section of a life in a capitalist tradition, but that doesn?t mean you need to live solely to the material objects of your respective desire. And, then again, you don?t have to live just like a black sheep who dumpster dives and shuns those persons who spend money like the oxygen about them. There is a third path.

The difference between those with money and people without comes down to a very important factor. Lesson one begins here.

Have you ever received the following email?

Brand new online, make money from home! You can fill out surveys and also work from home. You?ll get money for surveys, which can be online jobs from your home! That?s money with regard to surveys and paid survey reviews! One more time: Money for studies! These are online, paid surveys, which allow you to work at home. New work from home effort is also available in your area!

Whilst your eyes are darting backwards and forwards, reading this message, one of two things will occur. Either 1) you obtain so excited which you reach for your computer mouse button to access the link that may bring you to the ?Online Survey? offer land, thus using at your coffee mug along with ruining your computer keyboard or 2) you may roll your eyes if you notice the claims ?online work from home,? ?online paid survey,? ?paid study reviews,? as well as ?money for survey.? Immediately, you?ll increase indignant. You?ll be thus overcome with fury that your smash your current fist on your cubical, thus ruining your keyboard.

But you didn?t consider the third choice. That?s the difference at that time. That?s lesson numero uno, compadre. The way that?s never taken.

The enlightened third-path taker may, despite all of his logical and realistic doubts about ?paid review reviews? and ?online jobs from your home,? take the questionnaire. And yes, that third-path taker will submit his credit card information. Because we aren?t beavers, he?ll say. How come we give a dam?

Then there is lesson number one. In no way let your questions stop you from adventure. Even though it?s only a ?money with regard to survey? type of opportunity. And never be gullible. Bear in mind. If you?re going to get hornswoggled (conned, hustled, cheated, or refer to it as what you like), do it with the full understanding that you?re getting taken into a scheme. Remember, always. But don?t allow your doubts keep you from living your life towards the fullest.

In a nutshell, here is lesson number one: Search and leap concurrently. Besides, we aren?t beavers.

Thinkso Creative Kicks Off Give a Brand!, a Contest to Award One Nonprofit a Free Brand Makeover

More Details about small business branding firm here.

Tweet This Thinkso announces the launch of Give a Brand!, a design sprint in which Thinkso will completely rebrand one small nonprofit, free of charge, in a single 12-hour day. The general public is asked to vote on which charity to rebrand at thinkso.com/giveabrand. The poll is open until August 10, 2012.

When the owners and staff of Thinkso, a branding and marketing firm based in NYC, set out to do some good in their community, they quickly decided against painting local schools or running a 5k. Instead they are using their skills and resources to give one nonprofit a total brand makeover--with a twist.

Staying true to their mantra of having fun and pushing boundaries, Thinkso turned the project into something that could be termed "extreme branding". On Thursday, August 16, 2012, Thinkso?s entire staff and several co-sponsors will kick off a day of intense work that will culminate in the delivery of a high quality brand identity, marketing materials and fully functioning website. "We tend to make everything we do as much fun and as intense as possible. It?s kind of a ?go big or go home? approach," said Brett Traylor, partner.

A strong identity and compelling website are essential tools for modern nonprofit organizations. These legitimize a charity, showing supporters that it is committed, trustworthy and smart, which in turn boosts donations and funding. But most nonprofits--especially small, local ones--have no resources to invest in branding. "It?s a way to give back that keeps on giving back," said Elizabeth Amorose, partner. "We?re motivated to do a great job knowing that what we create for this nonprofit will help them generate support and funding."

Give a Brand! co-sponsors include the following companies: Matthew Septimus Photography, Finlay, Premiernyc.com, and Skillcrush.

Anyone will be able to watch this creative race in action via a live online stream.

Exclusive coverage will be available for media representatives who plan to attend Give a Brand! in the Thinkso studio.

About Thinkso Creative Thinkso Creative ( thinkso.com ) is a design and branding agency owned by Elizabeth Amorose and Brett Traylor. The agency creates compelling brand identities, marketing materials, and advertising campaigns. They work with clients across many sectors from financial services to travel and have earned recognition from a broad range of industry experts such as REBRAND, American Express OPEN Forum, PRINT Magazine, PRNews Platinum PR Awards, Black Book AR100, LACP Vision Awards, Graphic Design USA, and more.

16 Cats Rescued From Hot Garage, Covered in Waste | FOX8.com ...

GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio ? A local tip leads to a horrific discovery: 16 cats locked in a garage in some of the worst conditions in Geauga County.

?The cats would have died,? said Hope Brustein, director of the Geauga Humane Society?s Rescue Village. ?I think we were convinced of that, especially with the heat wave, and what that does to an enclosed space where there?s no air, that they were facing loss of life.?

The cats were neglected by their owners, not only left in the heat but also soiled in feces and waste, Brustein said. The owners willingly gave up the animals from their home late last month.

?Unbelievable filth. These cats were not getting new litter,? she said. ?These cats were not in an area that was cleaned. We did have to deal with all kinds of parasites and ear mites and things of that nature. Luckily, they did not end up having serious disease problems.?

Now, some of the cats are up for adoption. Nearly 1,800 are rescued by the Humane Society each year.

?At times, we can?t touch them at first. It takes a while for them to let us touch them. Those we can touch, we start with simple petting,? said cat volunteer Brenda Donahue. ?It?s happy and sad. We?re happy that we?re helping them, but it?s sad that they?re in bad situations.?

The cats range from about one to four years old. While some of them still remain sick, Brustein is eager to find the furry felines new owners and a new life.

?We?re really, really happy, similar to the big shepherd rescue that people may have heard about, that we think we?re going to get happy endings and second chances for all these animals,? she said.

For more information about the cats and other animals at Geauga Humane Society?s Rescue Village, go to click HERE.

Viacom, DirecTV, And The Future Of TV Blackouts

yellow_old_tvViacom and DirecTV ended their dispute over carriage fees on Friday, which saw the return of 17 Viacom channels on the cable satellite service. But who won, who lost, and what does the resolution mean for DirecTV, and for the rest of the industry? Given that Viacom reportedly didn't get what it wanted in the negotiations, it probably will mean even more blackouts as time goes on. Viacom wasn't available to DirecTV customers for nine days over the course of the blackout, and in that time key channels like Nickelodeon saw inevitable ratings declines. Ratings at the childrens network fell some 20 percent during that time. Meanwhile, Disney, the channel DirecTV replaced Nickelodeon with, saw its ratings increase a comparable amount. According to Bernstein Research analysts Todd Juenger and Craig Moffett, that implies it was Viacom which came back to the bargaining table and attempted to end the blackout.

Ai loses tax challenge, says truth 'not respected'

(AP Photo/Ng Han Guan)

(AP) ? Artist Ai Weiwei believes a tax evasion case was meant to intimidate him, but losing his challenge to the $2.4 million fine Friday did not silence his criticism of China's government.

"Today's verdict means that after 60 years of the founding of our nation, we still lack the basic legal procedures, the truth is not respected, and they do not give taxpayers or citizens any rights to defend oneself," Ai told reporters at his design studio, where he stayed because police told him he was not allowed to attend the hearing. "The whole legal system is in a dark state right now."

Ai and his supporters interpret the penalty Beijing tax authorities levied on his design company last year as official retaliation against his activism. He paid the guarantee in part with donations via wire transfers or from supporters who stuffed cash into envelopes or wrapped bills around fruit and threw them into his yard.

An internationally known sculptor, photographer and installation artist, he has used his art and online profile to draw attention to injustices in Chinese society and the need for greater transparency and rule of law.

He was detained without explanation for three months last year during an overall crackdown on dissent. Following his release, Beijing Fake Cultural Development Ltd, was ordered to pay 15 million yuan ($2.4 million) in back taxes and fines. The company filed a lawsuit accusing the tax bureau of violating laws in handling witnesses, gathering evidence and company accounts.

On Friday, the Chaoyang District People's Court announced its verdict amid a heavy security presence, as plainclothes and uniformed police blocked roads and forced reporters and diplomats to leave the area.

The court rejected the lawsuit on the grounds that the reasons given by the design firm in seeking to have the tax penalty revoked did not hold water, according to a copy of the verdict seen by The Associated Press.

The court said, for example, that the company was wrong in arguing that financial accounts seized from Ai's studio by police should not be used as evidence in the tax authority's investigation against the firm. It said tax investigators are allowed to use information sent to it by other departments or organizations.

Attorney Pu Zhiqiang, who attended the hearing with Ai's wife, Lu Qing, who is the company's legal representative, said the ruling was made "totally without reason." Pu said the company would appeal the ruling.

"We have lost this lawsuit but we believe that our action in reality can serve as a symbol of the awakening of civil consciousness," Pu said. "We do not recognize the legality of the ruling."

About a dozen supporters waited at a nearby intersection for the verdict. Tax lawyer Du Yanlin, who advises Ai, wore a gray T-shirt with the artist's name printed on it in bold characters and was prevented by police from getting close to the courthouse.

Du said the court's ruling was no surprise.

"Through this lawsuit we can clearly recognize what condition the Chinese judicial system is in. We can more clearly understand what Ai Weiwei's situation is," Du said. "He still has no freedom. He still can't have justice."

Before his own detention last April, Ai publicized fellow activists' disappearances via Twitter and he has spoken out about a number of national scandals, including the deaths of students in shoddily built schools that collapsed during the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, children killed or sickened by tainted infant formula and a deadly high-rise fire in Shanghai that killed 58 people and was blamed on negligent workers and corrupt inspectors.

Since being released, Ai has been refused permission to travel and is under constant surveillance. He still frequently criticizes the government on Twitter, which is blocked in China but accessible to tech-savvy citizens.

China says he remains under investigation on suspicion of illegal exchange of foreign currency and pornography. The latter allegation is believed to be linked to satirical online photos of him posing naked with four women who are topless.

Wolverton: Google Nexus Q media player costs too much, does too little

Google (GOOG) built its new Nexus Q around some good ideas, but the digital media player is a pricey half-baked product.

The Nexus Q represents the company's first attempt at its own digital living room device. Consumers can use it to stream movies, TV shows or music to their living room entertainment systems.

What makes the $300 Nexus Q different from other digital media players is that Google designed it to work specifically with smartphones and tablets running its Android operating system. The Nexus Q doesn't ship with a remote control; instead, you have to use your Android device to control it. And the Nexus Q doesn't have any kind of user interface of its own. Instead of navigating a menu of apps or channels on your TV screen, as you would with an Apple (AAPL) TV or Roku box, you select media to be played on the Nexus Q through the screen of your Android phone or tablet.

That's why Google representatives consider the Nexus Q to be an Android accessory, rather than a stand-alone device. But calling it a mere "accessory" understates its potential. The Q is a bona fide computer; its specifications, which include a dual-core processor,

1-gigabyte of memory and 16 gigabytes of Flash storage, are on par with what you'd find in many smartphones or tablets.

One way the Q already takes advantage of its capabilities is in how it plays back movies and music. When you tell the Q to play a movie using your smartphone, it appears that you are "beaming" the movie from your phone. But you're not; instead, Google routes the movie directly to the Q. That means you don't have to worry about draining your phone's battery or losing your movie stream because someone or something is blocking the "beamed" signal.

Another thing to like about the Nexus Q is that it's easy to set up. A special app that you can download from the Google Play store to your Android device automatically detects the Q and allows you to start configuring it without having to first get the media player onto your network. So you can enter your Wi-Fi password using the touch-screen keyboard on your phone rather than having to painfully navigate an on-screen keyboard on your TV with a four-button remote control. In all, it took me about five minutes to set up the Q.

Unlike many other media players, the Q has a built-in amplifier, so you can use it as a music player by just plugging in speakers, rather than connecting it to a stereo system. One other cool thing you can do with the Q is create a sort-of crowd-sourced music playlist. The owner can allow multiple devices to connect to the Q and add music to its queue of upcoming songs.

But such features aren't enough to save the Nexus Q from being a severely limited device.

The Q only plays media from YouTube or the Google Play store. You can't watch movies from Netflix (NFLX), TV shows from Hulu or user videos from Vimeo. You can't listen to music from Pandora, Spotify or Last.fm. You can't view pictures from Flickr, Facebook or even Google Plus. You can't watch any sports games from Major League Baseball or the National Basketball Association. And you can't play any games.

It's incredible to me that Google thinks it could launch without support for Netflix at least, much less these other providers. With Netflix available on seemingly every other digital media device on the market, access to the service is expected at this point, and most consumers interested in digital media wouldn't buy a device without it.

Google representatives say the company plans to open up the Q to content from other providers, but they haven't said when.

But access to media isn't the only thing the Q lacks. There's no way to send your personal content directly from your phone or tablet to the device. Want to watch a video of your kids you took on your phone on your big-screen TV? You'll have to upload it to YouTube first. Want to view a slideshow on your TV of pictures you took on your phone from your latest trip? You can't do it on the Q.

You can also forget trying to view any Web content other than YouTube on the device. You can't view Web pages as you can on a gadget running Google's unrelated Google TV software. And you can't beam videos embedded in a Web page to the Q as you can with Apple TV.

Some of those limitations might be more palatable if Google Play offered a robust selection of movies and TV shows. But as I detailed in my review of the Nexus Q tablet, Google's movie and TV offerings are spotty at best. If you want to watch something other than recent box office hits, you'll likely have a hard time finding it.

Oh, and did I mention you have to have an Android device to use the Q? If you're like a good chunk of the populace and have neither an Android tablet nor smartphone, forget buying the Q, because it will be useless to you. Even Apple TV can be used by consumers who don't own any other Apple device.

All those limitations are particularly galling considering the Q's cost. You can do much more with an Apple TV, whose $100 price tag is one-third that of the Q's. And you can access lots more content through Roku's line of players, which cost as little as $50. Heck, you'll soon be able to get a Google TV device from Vizio that gives you access to everything you'll find on the Q -- and a lot more -- for just $100.

With all its potential, the Nexus Q will likely improve considerably in the future. But Google would have benefited by baking it a bit longer. Because given all it lacks, its cost is really hard to swallow.

OldTweets Reveals Twitter Founders? First Tweets, And Yours Too. (Wow, They Were Boring!)

twttr_logoThis week,?Kellan Elliott-McCrea?launched a new Twitter search engine called "oldtweets" to a bit of?buzz. As the name implies, this tool?finally?lets you pull up tweets from Twitter's early days, specifically its first year up-and-running. That means tweet IDs 1 to 20,000,000, to be exact, which occurred during parts of 2006 and 2007. And you guys, this is the most fun I've had on the Internet all week. Now, we?all know?the infamous?first tweet?from co-founder now CEO?Jack Dorsey: "just setting up my twttr," but with oldtweets, you can actually pull up a history of Twitter's early adopters' first communications. Can anybody else relate to this?

For my entire life, I've always thought "love" and relationships were boring, restrictive, and nothing but trouble.

Into my late teens, this has not changed - I have not had one "crush" or experienced "love."

I'd find the idea of having to go out and meet a girl, socialise and keep up commitments a bit too frightening

and I'm a person who enjoys being alone and having my space, so a clingy girlfriend would be torture for me.

Does anybody else see eye to eye with what I've just written or am I the only aspie who doesn't even want a relationship?

I just don't understand why people are so mad about being "in a relationship."

There are an awful a lot of people that also say being a virgin makes you a "loser" and I usually roll my eyes at that.

Why do people think having sex makes them successful? It just seems completely redundant to me, and I find it very

moronic that people are so desperate to be viewed as "cool" by others by going around being man-whores.

However, isn't going to a Love & Dating section to share this redundant in itself?

I can see why people would view it as redundant, but I'm more curious as to WHY people want relationships in the first place. I should

have mentioned that in the post, I guess.

Hmm. I definitely wouldn't say I need one. Have difficulty saying I'd want one. I guess I would like one but I'm not bothered.

A lot of people will seek relationships for co-dependence and thinking it will bring them happiness. Others want the sex and intimacy on the tap. And some like being supported. Others do it for status reasons. Others insecurity. Some want to start a family. Some have a lot of love and they want to share it. There's a broad spectrum of reasons involved.

If you are looking for personal testimonies I guess I enjoy the company of a friend that also happens to be a pretty woman I can occasionally do romantic and naughty things with lol.

Perhaps you are asexual? Or maybe relationships just aren't for you. In the past there was more recognition that some people might choose to be single and there was a place in society for people who felt that way. I think these days there is an idea that choosing to live your life single is somehow a 'lesser' choice and I think that's a shame and also very inaccurate. It's possible that your feelings will change over time, but if not then it's perfectly acceptable to feel that way and live your life as you choose.

I do think this to be true. In the past when I was young I used to love the idea of being older because I could be a free spirit on my own and would be respected for my decision. Now it seems overpopulating our cities with vile people we cannot sustain is a very popular notion and is vigorously enforced onto people in our society.

Hopefully in 20-30 years technology will advance, corporatism will see a slump and people will start using their brains again.

Yes, in short relationships aren't for everyone.

I can see why people would view it as redundant, but I'm more curious as to WHY people want relationships in the first place.

Mainly just to have one person you can trust, who will be your ally. It's hard, in life, having to keep your guard up with everyone all the time. Its nice to have just one person, with whom you don't have to. That's the ideal, anyhow. It can certainly fall well short of that.

I'd find the idea of having to go out and meet a girl, socialise and keep up commitments a bit too frightening and I'm a person who enjoys being alone and having my space, so a clingy girlfriend would be torture for me.

It's not necessarily like that - you might, perhaps even by accident, meet one who doesn't like to go out and socialize and also enjoys being alone.

There are an awful a lot of people that also say being a virgin makes you a "loser" and I usually roll my eyes at that.

Good.

Why do people think having sex makes them successful?

I have no idea. If you truly don't need that or a relationship, I think you're rather lucky to be so self-sufficient. Just be sure you're not fooling yourself:
